To celebrate the 70th anniversary of HKBU and its rich heritage as the first tertiary education institution to offer film and video production courses in Hong Kong, we proudly present the Future Film Fest to identify and nurture top young local and international film students and professionals.
Riding on the prestige of HKBU’s Global University Film Awards (GUFA), widely recognised as the “University Oscars”, Future Film Fest centres on AI and virtual production, marking a strategic pivot toward the future of the medium. Our festival is an international platform for filmmakers and audiences across generations to explore the latest cinematic trends and engage in conversations on film and technology, as well as to navigate cutting-edge tools that shape the future of filmmaking.
Future Film Fest comprises a competition (with three institutional nominated categories and one open category, conferring eight awards) and an opening and awards ceremony. Over the three days of our festival, there will be a series of tech forums, masterclasses, and screenings.
